I am sure it would benefit a lot of writers (including myself) that rely heavily on external views.

But I'd also appreciate the option that the writer can decide to use ads or not. I sometimes publish stuff without the paywall because I want all people to read it.

Ads should also integrate seemlessly into the readers experience. Medium should keep its minimalistic experience the way it is. Ads should not break the reading experience.
