No AI? No Party!
GitHub Copilot was down yesterday. Worst 30 minutes of the year for me!
I subscribed to GitHub Copilot after they introduced the agent mode a few months ago. And it’s quite scary how dependent I became on it during that time.
Yesterday, the service was down for about 30 minutes. VS Code chat interface just threw errors at me, and the Copilot website also didn’t work. I was about to write unit tests for my current project. It’s just ridiculous how much time you save alone on test code generation. My productivity dropped a lot, and I noticed for the first time how my coding style had changed in the last 6 months.
Your best coding buddy
I was sceptical about AI-assisted coding for a long time. Too many errors, too little structure, too crappy results.
However, with recent models (like Sonnet 4 or GPT-5) and proper prompting, I can build things in a fraction of the original time. Maybe the 10x developer isn’t that far away? (Roughly a year ago, I strongly disagreed)
When you know how to prompt, when you know about architecture and patterns, and when you know how…
