Pay what you want for free content is actually working
I am using Gumroad’s “pay what you want” option and customers make use of it.
I recently launched my first ebook and within just a few days, I already got 2 donations.
The ebook documents the development process of a new Flutter app. It’s offered on Gumroad for free, but people can pay whatever they want to support creators.
I like that possibility a lot because it allows distributing content for free with an optional mechanism to receive money. And it’s up to the customers to decide what they want to give.
Of course, it won’t make me rich. But that was never the ultimate goal.
To see people downloading and using my content makes me really proud. And I also appreciate any donation, no matter how small or large it is.
I’ll publish more content in the future. As most of my knowledge comes from free sources on the internet, I am also going to contribute free tutorials, guides, and ebooks.
Everyone should be able to learn for free!
