Will Windows ever be finished?

Or is it too big to be entirely revamped?

The Windows operating system has been around for a long time. Since the first official version in 1985, a lot has changed in the world and also in Windows. But you would not believe how many old bits can still be found in it. Some of it is under the hood and we can’t see it directly. But we notice it when we use older programs and older hardware because they have a good chance to still work to some extent on the current version 11 of Windows.

Although Microsoft is pushing a new major version every couple of years, legacy support plays a big role in the company’s decision-making. As it has a huge market share in the enterprise sector, Microsoft ensures that people can use its tools as long as possible.

It comes at a price, though. You’ll always find pieces from older versions in your current Windows. This raises the question if Windows will ever be finished or does Microsoft lack the manpower to tackle everything before a new version release?
